Black male educators are the biggest minority in education, yet they yield an extraordinary impact in the field. Research suggests that the presence of a black male educator has a positive impact on students, especially students of color. Education experts, social activists, and students throughout the US advocate for the increase and retention of black male educators. Research has shown black male educators have a greater impact on Black and Brown students’ investment in education and build authentic relationships with students. Through interviews, this study examines trends and themes across black male educators to understand the challenges and recommendations of Black male educators, with the aim to find methods that would recruit and retain Black male educators in schools.
