Life in the periphery provides a small community where warm connections are formed between people. However, remoteness and isolation in these environments can lead to fewer educational opportunities. The aim of the present study is to examine perceptions of adults regarding the role of educational systems in internal migration considerations. The study is based on interviews with 14 adults who grew up, were educated in the periphery, and are now parents. Using thematic analysis, it was found that the process of internal migration was characterized by constant deliberation, internal maturity, and dependence on family. The role of educational systems included experiences in the past and present, and plans for the future.
