Students of color attending predominantly White high schools (PWHSs) face racial challenges and barriers while navigating complicated relationships with these institutions. They often feel the pressure to conform to hegemonic narratives of success and adopt meritocratic values. This study explores how students of color actively resist these norms to assert their identities and challenge racism and discrimination within PWHSs. Drawing on the Community Cultural Wealth (CCW) framework, we highlight the role of resistance in students’ academic success, as it allows them to leverage their cultural identities and foster a sense of belonging. By rejecting normative deficit perspectives and acknowledging resistance as a valuable asset, this study aims to contribute to the resilience of students of color.
