This paper presents the findings of a five-year longitudinal mixed-methods study examining the impact of school leadership, coaching and school development consultancy on school quality in challenging circumstances. The study involved approximately 200 schools from two German states, with half receiving additional professionalization measures and support for school development. The research investigates the processes and outcomes of the interventions through qualitative content analysis and regression analyses. The results indicate that the program had a positive effect on school quality, with schools showing improvements in various dimensions. School leadership coaching and school development consultancy were found to be beneficial, enhancing leadership skills and organizational development. The findings highlight the importance of tailoring interventions to each school's unique context for quality improvement.
