Latinx college students report higher occurrences of clinically significant levels of depression compared to their non-Latinx counterparts. Previous studies conducted among the general population indicate that poor sleep quality is associated with greater depressive symptoms. However, former studies examining the relationship between sleep quality and depression have mostly excluded students from minoritized backgrounds. Therefore, in this study, we examined the association between insomnia and depression among 530 urban Latinx college students. In addition, we examined the degree to which resilience moderates this association. Results from this study may inform college campuses about the importance of offering sleep awareness and sleep hygiene interventions for Latinx college students who struggle with poor sleep quality.
