Little is known about how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the quality of student teaching. The current study examined differences in student teaching InTASC evaluations throughout the pandemic. Between Fall 2019 and Fall 2021, 895 cooperating teachers (CT) rated the effectiveness of their student teachers (ST) on ten InTASC standards. A 5 (semester) x 5 (licensure program) x 10 (standard) repeated measures ANOVA was conducted. Results indicated that student teaching rating were higher in Fall 2020, during peak pandemic, than in Fall 2019, pre-pandemic. CTs may have inflated scores to show empathy or STs, who likely have more experience with distance education, may have impressed CTs with their knowledge of online teaching.
