Scholars have recently suggested School Counselor-Principal (SCP) collaboration is essential for success in providing equitable opportunities for social-emotional health, academic achievement, career- and college-readiness, and culturally responsive education for all students. The preparation programs for principals is lacking in support for the SCP collaboration, therefore principals rely on mentors or state accountability models for guidance on the school counselor program. This study sought to expand our knowledge of this by investigating the perspectives of principals on educational leadership preparation programs in Alabama. The results showed that 70% of principal respondents reported that the items in the survey were unlike the experiences that they received in their principal preparation programs. Principals reported that mentors taught them the priorities noted in this research.
