Thu, April 11, 10:50am to 12:20pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

An invitation to thinking the arts 'as' education, viewing education and dance as efforts to dialogue with the world, probing dance as (kin)aesthetic experiencing and ethical relationships shaping through agency and vulnerability, urging the meaning and truth searching Self to become by subjecting to what a challenged world of Others is asking for. A shift is advocated from the autonomous, self-expressing Self to the necessity of being with others, from predefined truth to the unpredictable, from conscious knowledge construction to pre-cognitive permeability through the senses, from universal ideas of humanism to an education for the unique human subject becoming, from competition to coexistence in a precarious world calling upon us to act together for democracy’s, mankind’s and the planet’s survival.
