Deeply ingrained knowledge production processes need to be examined in order to make space for amplifying diverse voices, honoring diverse ways of knowing, and equitizing and advancing the field of peace education. How do we transform the knowledge production process of the academy through critical mentorship? In this presentation, data from a content analysis research project conducted on published articles in the Journal of Peace Education from 2004-2021 will be examined. In order to address historical underrepresentation, a critical mentorship framework and approach (Longmire-Avital, 2020) will be explored as a means of decolonizing peace education knowledge production. Yet, critical mentorship alone is not enough to transform endemic structural violence in academic publishing. Other potential solutions will be explored.
