PEDC (Pennsylvania Educator Diversity Consortium) as an Anchor for Inter-Institutional Collaboration: The Principles, Beliefs, and Behaviors of Collective, Social Justice Leadership

Sun, April 14, 1:15 to 2:45pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Room 201A

Abstract

The Pennsylvania Educator Diversity Consortium (PEDC) is a grassroots organization of invested partners from early childhood, PreK-12, and higher education entities; non-profit, community, and research organizations; government agencies; and philanthropic foundations all focused on increasing the number of teachers of color and culturally relevant and sustaining educators in Pennsylvania. Operating with intention through a collective impact framework, PEDC has worked to address the need for culturally relevant and sustaining education within teacher preparation and professional development. Through education, collaboration, and advocacy at various levels, PEDC has mobilized for systemic change in both state-level policy as well as within institutions. The presenters will share what PEDC aims to do collectively to reshape education in Pennsylvania and how we do it, to provide insight into cross-institutional and organizational collaboration and leadership for social justice.
