3. Case Study: Shifting the Ownership of Reform in a University From the Few to the Many

Sun, April 14, 1:15 to 2:45pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Room 201A

Abstract

Rather than asking individual teacher education programs to incorporate the CRSE competencies into their programs on their own, a community of practice was initiated to allow faculty from across the state of Pennsylvania to work together in order to implement the competencies in their coursework, ensuring that their pre-service teachers will be prepared to be culturally relevant and sustaining educators. This presentation will discuss the process used in this community of practice, as well as members’ experiences and perceptions of the project outcomes.
