Ethics and Character Education of Adolescents in the Context of School Violence

Abstract

The problem of this research is school violence involving adolescents. Hypothesis is: Ethics, through the practice of virtues, can help character formation, leading people to act without violence. Justification is that school needs to improve character education to reduce violence. The objective is to investigate the relationship between the practice of the virtues Justice and Respect and character education concerning school violence. This is a qualitative research, exploratory type. The collected material went through the process of content analysis. Adolescents from two Brazilian schools answered an online questionnaire. Results show that if there is the practice of virtues, there is character formation and if there is character formation, there is an individual willing to collaborate for the good of all.
