Collective trauma impacts the work of school leaders on a regular basis, but little is known about how leaders are prepared for these challenges. This research investigates how the National Educational Leadership Preparation (NELP) standards address trauma. We find that while the NELP standards do not explicitly address trauma, they can be interpreted as implicitly supporting trauma-informed leadership. We analyze our findings using a conceptual framework of “Leading on Days After” and consider implications for advancing antiracist, justice-oriented leadership preparation.
