The purpose of our study was to obtain recommendations from women of color who pursued doctor of education degrees and examine the obstacles they faced in both obtaining their degree and in their subsequent leadership positions. The work of Ladson-Billings (2021) was incorporated in how education can be reconstructed to help dismantle injustice. Our research team explored how candidates of color in their doctoral programs were provided equity and access for success, as well as in their current leadership positions. Through the understanding of the experiences of the six women of color participants, recommendations emerged that can be used by universities to create just educational spaces.
