This poster synthesizes two decades of literature characterizing a "critical turn" in digital literacy studies situated within the broader context of settler colonial racial capitalism. We highlight key trends in the CDL literature; limitations, controversies, and challenges within the field; and perspectives from outside of the field that are or could be drawn on. We also share examples of emerging disruptive and generative work along with implications for moving our field forward through an abolitionist vision as the logical extension of critical sociocultural frameworks.
