Examining the Psychometric Properties of the Survey Measuring Data-Informed Instruction

Abstract

This study examined the psychometric properties of the Data-Informed Instruction (DII) survey by using the Partial Credit model and reliability analysis. Data used for this study included valid survey responses from 230 schoolteachers in a southern state in the US. The study showed that the DII scale had reliable scores and sound psychometric properties in relation to the survey items, raters’ characteristics, and school locations. The DII survey could provide researchers with a reliable and valid instrument, school leaders with a tool to assess teachers’ capacity in DII and thus develop teachers in this regard, teachers with a tool to aid self-reflection, and teacher education programs with a powerful tool to empower teachers in this regard.
