This exploratory research reports findings on the possibilities, benefits, and challenges of using a telepresence robot for preservice teacher (PST) supervision in primary and secondary classrooms. The study found that supervisors were able to utilize the robot to conduct remote observations of PSTs in largely the same manner as in-person observations with similar outcomes. Both the university-based supervisors and PSTs felt comfortable using the robot for remote observations, the PSTs felt adequately supported by supervisors using the robot, and supervisors felt they were able to provide adequate support to PSTs. Technology challenges, such as connecting to wifi and limited video and audio capabilities, were reported.
