Understanding the role of mindsets is crucial for academic success. This pioneering study delves into the significance of a newly introduced concept, strategic mindset, in self-regulated learning and academic achievement across diverse cultural contexts and ages. Surveys were administered to 1,140 students and parents in Chilean schools, examining the relationship between strategic mindset, self-regulation behavior, and overall GPA. The results revealed that strategic mindset significantly predicted academic performance, mediated by self-regulation behavior. Notably, parent autonomy support emerged as a pivotal predictor, underscoring the importance of fostering a strategic mindset for academic success through supportive parenting. These groundbreaking insights contribute to future studies and interventions in mindset development.
