Numerous activities and measures can be observed in the educational context of digitalization. However, it appears that some teachers are slowly integrating digital media into their lessons. Since there are limited formal incentives for German teachers to modernize their teaching, this study will examine the challenges that teachers face in developing their lessons. For this purpose, a qualitative interview study was conducted which was content analyzed using Helmke's (2022) model for lesson development and the SAMR model (Puentedura, 2012). The results show that many teachers are certainly willing to develop their lessons, but that initiating the process depends heavily on their own commitment and dedication. In addition, not all the potential that digital media can offer has been fully exploited.
