This critical qualitative case study (Yin, 2014) of first-generational foreign and native-born Latino students from immigrant households immigrant-serving community-based organization builds upon past sociological and socio-cultural research. The authors draw from Mario Small’s work on network ties and organizations to examine how Latino
youth talk about the impact of a CBO on their belonging, identity, and educational futures. The authors argue that CBOs that broker social and organizational ties for immigrant youth reduce inequality through fostering belonging and providing direct services are a potential mechanism for reducing educational inequalities. Implications are discusses as well as the analytic and empirical contributions
