To meet rising demands in computing, there remains a need to engage more students and consider options that are inclusive for all. We describe our approach, a workshop hosted for women undergraduate students from other majors. Over the span of a week, we developed and executed sessions for students to engage with different computing concepts, from programming to ethics. The Community of Inquiry framework guided our efforts as we investigated the effectiveness and student preferences around the lessons included. We assessed students’ reactions to the activities to understand their perceptions and inform future programmatic design. The findings could be useful for other educators considering ways to introduce students from other majors to computing.
