Developing a diverse workforce in computer science is a national priority, however efforts to engage adult learners in this field have been largely unsuccessful. The purpose of this convergent mixed-methods study was to evaluate the effect of computer coding musical compositions on adult learner’s dispositions towards computer science. This study utilized the TunePad programming environment, an online platform for creating music through computer coding, to engage learners in computer programming. Data were obtained through a one-time disposition survey and individual interviews. The findings of this study indicated that participants' dispositions toward computing improved during the intervention program. This study offers quantitative results aligned with qualitative findings that suggests how and why digital music composition may improve dispositions towards computer science.
