This study investigates manifest indicators of mental fatigue in students within an online higher education setting. A systematic literature review was conducted, utilizing electronic databases on education, and a manual search was implemented to find additional relevant articles. A total of 17 articles were identified and reviewed, each providing insight into the manifestations of mental fatigue in online learning. The identified indicators of mental fatigue were classified into three distinct categories: subjective, physiological, and performance-based. This comprehensive study of indicators of mental fatigue makes an important contribution to understanding student well-being in online learning environments and potentially effective support strategies to mitigate its effects.
