Fri, April 12, 7:45 to 9:15am, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

This study assessed the impact of Jockey Club Youth Academy for Special Educational Needs on the career adaptability and career development self-efficacy of over twenty SEN school leavers. Positive impacts were observed in career control, planning, goal setting, and job interview skills. SEN students reported high satisfaction, believing the program improved their understanding of abilities and interests, aided in making better education and career choices and developed strategies for career goals. The study emphasizes the importance of early intervention and support for SEN school leavers' career success, given the challenges they face. Improved career adaptability and self-efficacy are vital for their further education and employment. Targeted programs, requiring collaboration among stakeholders, are needed to enhance their employment and social inclusion.
