This paper emphasizes the importance of examining our positionality and how it can be intentionally applied to design online learning for envisioning a racially and socially just future. This autoethnography uses personal narrative to analyze online course design based on ethics of care with empathy, value of emotions, and expressiveness. Funds of knowledge rooted in cultural identities and lived experiences are valuable for creating a sense of belonging, practicing radical self-care, and healing by honoring subjugated meaning-making through artistic endeavors. The paper's significance lies in implications for online course design to aim for a hopeful future in which a racially just world is within our reach.
