The aim of this proposal is to investigate the relationship between educational research dissemination and coloniality. We use our experiences at a mathematics education conference with a decolonial focus to understand how even the most “progressive” conference spaces continue to sustain coloniality and inequity within education. We present our experiences in an effort to promote conference practices that provide valuable educational experiences to all in a world where professional learning opportunities are essential to creating and maintaining equitable, anti-racist, and decolonial educational systems.
