Tethered Lives: Exploring the Educational Journey of Asian Americans in Undocumented Immigrant Families

Sun, April 14, 3:05 to 4:35pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 100, Room 111A

Abstract

Research has revealed race-based challenges significantly affect the educational experiences of Asian American students and students in undocumented immigrant families. Yet, despite this evidence, Asian American students in undocumented immigrant families remain an understudied phenomenon. Utilizing intersectional and relational theoretical frameworks to emphasize an interconnected “tethered” journey, this paper explores the educational experiences of Asian Americans in immigrant families with at least one undocumented parent.
