U.S. schools are becoming increasingly diverse (NCES, 2020). We need teachers and educational leaders who teach and lead in inclusive and socially just ways. For the past four years, we have been working in a research partnership called Collaborative Conversations (CCs). CCs provide a forum for fostering dialogue between leader candidates (LCs) and teacher candidates (TCs), who are typically siloed within separate preparation programs. Candidates often co-mentor one another, as they express fears and hopes, during the CCs. Here we extend this work by conducting follow-up interviews with past participants to investigate the ways (if any) in which these new professionals may draw from the CC experience in order to teach and lead in culturally sustaining, socially just ways.
