This literature review explores the use of digital technologies in supporting the learning of social and communication skills among autistic children. Framed within sociocultural and activity theory, the review analyzes thirty-three peer-reviewed articles to examine how technology enhances social and communication development in autistic populations. The findings indicate the effectiveness of diverse technologies, such as virtual reality, in delivering interventions. Additionally, the review provides insights on utilizing different technologies to teach the desired skills to autistic children. The paper also addresses the limitations and barriers associated with using digital technologies. This literature review can inform researchers, caregivers, and teachers about the utility of using technology to deliver interventions that may enhance autistic children’s social and communication skills.
