Prioritizing Family-School Partnerships in Pursuit of Digital Justice

Thu, April 11, 10:50am to 12:20pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

As challenges related to Digital Equity for racially minoritized learners at school and home persist, there are increased concerns related to digital injustices because of the pandemic. Due to teaching and learning occurring in homes, family members were called upon to facilitate or deliver remote and online instruction without adequate resources and supports. Researchers have studied the digital divide for over a decade; however, an examination of district resources and supports for families as the primary facilitators of online learning is less prominent in the literature. This study aimed to contribute to the scarce body of scholarship that seeks to produce knowledge and recommendations that dismantle digital injustices and construct supports for racially minoritized families impacted by digital inequities.
