The current complex problems in the field of academic integrity have led to exploring alternative approaches. In the context of Restorative Practices, proactive circles can help search for relational solutions to academic integrity breaches. Using these circles, we examined three main bodies of literature to develop alternatives to academic integrity beyond the punitive approach: the students as partners framework, the systems approach, and the pluriversal framework. The deconstruction of power relationships, the engagement of students with different backgrounds in academic integrity policy decision-making spaces and the development of situated approaches and understandings emerged as critical areas of interest that might contribute to making a transdisciplinary turn in the field of academic integrity.
