The Assistant Principal Leadership Academy: District-University Partnership for the Systemic Improvement of School Leadership (Poster 6)

Fri, April 12, 9:35 to 11:05am, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall A

Abstract

The paper aims to document and examine the design and implementation phases of the district-university partnership, and how it served as a bridge for knowledge and practice in leadership preparation. The larger effort is a multi-year study intended to capture the continuous improvement process of the initiative. Through a collaborative process involving experts from Big Star School District in Texas and Sundance College of Education, and Sundance School of Business (pseudonyms), the design and implementation of the Assistant Principal Leadership Academy (APLA) are anchored in four critical components of principal preparation outlined by the George W. Bush Institute.
