Literacy is critical for success in school. Unfortunately, students in foster care tend to have persistent difficulty acquiring literacy skills and knowledge. This case study looks at the implementation of an afterschool literacy tutoring program through a foster care agency. The implementation model drew employed was the Practical Robust Implementation and Sustainability Model (PRISM). The analysis investigated if the intervention was meeting the needs of the students and the staff and if the program is sustainable. Assessment data, tutor surveys, and an analysis of sustainability metrics were employed to answer the research questions. Results indicate that through co-development with the staff and engaging the dynamic process in the PRISM model has created the groundwork for a successful and sustainable program.
