The rapid growth of AI adoption in diverse domains, including art, has spurred interest in AI painting. However, formal learning platforms offer limited resources, such as curriculum and courses, for aspiring AI painters due to its novelty. Consequently, online communities like Reddit have emerged as hubs for learning and discussions. This study examines posts and comments from the subreddit r/StableDiffusion to gauge public AI literacy. Our analysis identifies a gap in the understanding of AI functionality and ethical concerns in AI art. Many critiques lacked comprehension of AI model data processing and artwork generation. By linking these findings to existing research, this study presents novel insights into the public's perceptions and misconceptions about AI painting.
