Abstract

This paper engages a question posed by the AERA 2024 call for proposals: How do so many aspects of education research, policy, and practice omit examinations of race and racism? By engaging recent conversations on the topic of epistemic injustice in the field of feminist philosophy, I consider the strengths and limitations of the major social science research paradigms in their ability to study the causes and impacts of epistemic injustice in education.The paper concludes by emphasizing the potential for just world-building that is possible when researchers strategically align their research design with anti-racist goals.
