College Selectivity and Postsecondary Outcomes Among Gifted and Talented Students: Longitudinal Study From Arkansas

Thu, April 11, 4:20 to 5:50pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

A handful of longitudinal studies—mostly select samples—address the academic and later life outcomes of G/T students. There have been few longitudinal studies on the college enrollment outcomes of G/T students, particularly across an entire state. This study examines G/T students’ postsecondary outcomes in Arkansas, including college enrollment and selectivity. We found that G/T students are more likely to attend postsecondary institutions, including selective college but among G/T students, the rates differ across socio-economic status, racial/ethnicity backgrounds and other demographic characteristics.
