The study aimed to investigate: (1) the relationships between the multiple factors, including motivational beliefs (i.e., self-efficacy and interest), perceptions (i.e., perceived usefulness), and SRL writing strategy use (i.e., planning, text-generating, self-monitoring and revising); and (2) how these factors may work together to explain continuance intention and English writing competence. Four hundred and sixty-three Cantonese speaking ESL/EFL learners completed a questionnaire. The findings suggest that technology self-efficacy had significant effects on SRL writing strategy use, perceived usefulness and continuance intention. Perceived usefulness predicted SRL writing strategy use and continuance intention. SRL writing strategy use, in turn, had significant effects on English writing competence. Interest significantly predicted continuance intention. Useful implications are drawn.
