The Covid-19 pandemic posed significant challenges to the school system. Research indicates that learning outcomes declined during the pandemic, resulting in learning losses. Some studies examining inter-individual influences have found evidence of greater learning challenges for students with lower SES. In addition, other studies show that migrant students are at greater risk of poverty. The present findings suggest that the Covid-19 pandemic may further exacerbate social inequalities, particularly those related to migration. This study examines student learning outcomes during the Covid-19 pandemic, focusing on immigrant students with low SES. To this aim, longitudinal analyses were conducted using data from students in the German-speaking cantons of Switzerland. Information on the impact of pandemic preparedness measures can help mitigate the resulting inequalities.
