In Hong Kong, aided Childcare Center (CCCs) operates out of policies and practices developed decades ago. This study investigates the sustainability of child care service quality through semi-structured interviews with two directors of non-governmental organizations that operate aided CCCs, four principals and 30 teachers from four aided CCCs in Hong Kong. Four major challenges have been identified from the thematic analysis in relation to maintaining the service quality and allowing for sustainable development of CCC. These issues have reflected the needs for professional development, pre-service teacher preparation and in wider aspects such as policies and cultural beliefs towards the CCC provision.
