We center making as a human practice, that has been engaged in since time immemorial. Reflection on this world history has inspired questions on the role of reflexivity around the practices of being maker-educator-researchers. These interconnected identities along with one's background shape the ways we approach making, education, and research. As we struggle towards a more racially just future, we contemplate the role of making towards achieving this goal. We offer three autoethnographic vignettes from women and femme of color maker-educator-researchers. Each vignette highlights different aspects of the authors’ journeys and how this shapes current practices. This work serves as a model for others to engage in this practice.
