This paper presents a qualitative multiple case study conducted with Azerbaijani families to study influences of family context on young children's digital media practices. Through fieldwork and a digital participatory research method, the study draws on ecocultural theory to understand the role of family context in shaping children's exposure and use of digital media. The findings reveal that family context in Azerbaijan exerts a significant influence, encompassing the 'hierarchy' of devices, with parents exhibiting preferences for specific digital media devices, and the 'language' of digital media, with parents encouraging their children to engage with content in certain languages for enhanced language learning outcomes.
