Although there have been many scholarly efforts to identify the impact of COVID-19-related discrimination among Asian Americans, no study has yet investigated the complex dynamics between a long historical racial stereotype, overt racial discrimination during COVID, and its impact on psychological well-being. Therefore, this study aims to explore whether American Asian emerging adults’ (AAEA) COVID-19-related discrimination mediates the relation between model minority stereotypes and psychological well-being and whether ethnic-racial identity exploration moderates the interrelations between these variables. Our findings confirm that the stereotype that Asian Americans are free from racial discrimination negatively impacts psychological well-being through COVID-19-related discrimination (Wing & Park-Taylor, 2022). More importantly, ERI exploration functioned differently depending on the participants' awareness of MMS.
