The Relationship Between Students’ Participation in an Indoor Agricultural Program and Their Eighth-Grade Standardized Test Scores

Sun, April 14, 11:25am to 12:55pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 100, Room 109B

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the relationships between middle school student’s participation in indoor agriculture and their academic achievement using quasi-experimental methods. Furthermore, analyses sought to better understand the moderating effects of students’ demographic characteristics and school-level variables on the relationship between middle school students’ participation in indoor agriculture and their academic achievement. We compared students enrolled in middle schools with an indoor agricultural program with a propensity-matched comparison group of students enrolled in the same school district without the program to understand its relationship to student achievement.
