Equity in education is a national priority and a focal point for many college campuses. The Council for Higher Education Accreditation recently announced new standards that include assessing and addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in higher education. In this paper, we discuss the technical properties of a survey developed by the authors to assess the institutional response to DEI that allows institutions to examine the current state of DEI initiatives on their campuses. The technical properties of the survey are based on input from 83 institutions. We also discuss the development process of parallel set of assessments for students, faculty, and staff and the process of development that ensures the DEI input into the surveys.
