Legislating Inequity and Exacerbating Trauma: An Autoethnographic Account of a Traumatized Teacher

Sat, April 13, 1:15 to 2:45pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

Trauma, specifically PTSD associated with sexual violence, provides the foundation for the critical reflection of how I have navigated the classroom while being targeted by laws aimed at policing my practice. To do so, I explore the personal, which is ultimately performative and political, and the practical, which is also theoretically informed, via an autoethnographic account of how I, as a university professor at a time when higher education classrooms are under attack, have navigated higher education campuses and classrooms while dealing with my own PTSD.
