Sun, April 14, 3:05 to 4:35pm, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Floor: Level 200, Exhibit Hall B

Abstract

American University’s First Year Experience course (AUx) is an interdisciplinary space for students to dialogue about race, social identity, and structures of power and oppression in community with peers and an instructor. The course is framed in antiracist curriculum and pedagogy, reflecting the university’s commitment to advance equity and inclusion. The authors were asked to design a year of programming for instructors to enhance their teaching and learning. Organized as a faculty fellowship, we developed an evaluation protocol to measure the impact of our work. This paper examines data collected during the Faculty Fellowship and its impact on faculty development using action research and autoethnographic methods.
