Computer science (CS) has emerged as a crucial literacy needed by today’s students. Despite national momentum, there are entrenched equity issues within the field and students with disabilities (among many others) are not able to access CS experiences. One way to address this issue is through the integration of CS in preservice teacher pathways. We conducted a descriptive, exploratory, single case study to explore how and why three special education faculty members integrated CS into preservice coursework. We found faculty were able to find connections between CSed and existing special education coursework, and that access and equity were driving rationales. More work is needed to better understand how teacher education faculty across disciplines can integrate CSed into preservice pathways.
