Educational literature is replete with examples of how schools fail to adequately service Black students. While this research is critical for identifying ineffective practices, the field also needs insights into educational strategies that enhance success for Black students. Utilizing a qualitative, multi-perspective research approach, this proposal highlight findings from an examination of varying constructs of success at two high-performing schools with a majority Black student population. The research in this proposal aims to develop a grounded theory of the complexity of Black student success, and pragmatic strategies gathered from key stakeholders into what school factors contribute to success for Black students. The findings from this research will have implications for those working to improve educational experiences for Black students.
