This study aimed to analyze mentoring of prospective teachers in two different international context, India and Spain, by using a mixed method research approach drawing on two data sources: quantitative data was collected using an internationally validated instrument, the Mentoring Profile Inventory (MPI) to survey 42 Indian and 30 Spanish mentors, and qualitative data was collected through a series of semi- structured interviews with 6 respondents to the survey (3 Indian and 3 Spanish). An analysis determined the major motivators and challenges of mentors from these two countries. Understanding what motivates and challenges teacher mentors serves as base to reflect upon the essential components of mentorship in both contexts.
