Cultural, multicultural, and social justice counseling competencies are at the core of school counseling training, which is embedded in the professional standards and ethics of CACREP (2015), ACA (2014), and ASCA (2019, 2022). This training focus aligns with the promotion of DEIB emphasized in higher education. Yet, there appeared to be disjunctures in Asian international school counseling students' (AISCS) experiences of being trained as promoters of DEIB regardless of whether they experienced equity, inclusion, and belonging. This study used institutional ethnography (Smith, 1974) to explore AISCS’ everyday experiences in CACREP-accredited programs. The study involved five participants. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews. There were two findings: (1) AISCS’ location within DEIB work and (2) disjunctures in AISCS’ everyday experiences.
